Tiger Woods is still the world's top athlete brand, Forbes says

Tiger Woods is still the world's top athlete brand, according to Forbes magazine, despite the golfing star's loss of many corporate sponsors after reports that he had affairs with 19 women.

The business magazine estimated in its second annual "Fab 40" list that Woods still represents the top sports brand by athlete, with an estimated value of $82 million (£52 million).

It said Woods' remaining sponsor deals with Nike Inc, Electronic Arts Inc and Procter & Gamble Co's Gillette brand will allow him to remain the world's highest paid athlete this year.

Woods, who is taking an indefinite break from professional golf, has not been seen in public since admitting in December that he had cheated on his wife.

His total earnings were larger than that of the next five athletes combined, according to Forbes. Footballer David Beckham ($20 million), tennis star Roger Federer ($16 million), NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. ($14 million) and National Basketball Association stars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant ($13 million and $12 million, respectively) rounded out the top six.

While Nike and others have stood by Woods, Accenture Plc and AT&T Inc dropped him as their pitch man after he became engulfed in allegations of multiple extramarital affairs following a minor car accident outside his Florida home on Nov 27.

The most informative and rewarding collection of stories.
This book aims to teach not so much how to swing the club in a technical manner but more gives an understanding of how the mind plays an important part in your scoring abilities. It contains many stories, some only a couple of sentences long, which make you think about more than just how to transfer your weight or how to grip the club. It gives a more realistic view of little pieces of advice a training pro gave to improve his pupils scores without rejigging their game which I found to be both informative and enjoyable.

Highly recommended.
